CARBINJECT Ferric Carboxymaltose Solution

CARBINJECT contains Ferric Carboxymaltose Solution for Injection 50mg/ml in 2 ml & 10 ml vials. It should be administered via IV injection or infusion only. CARBINJECT is indicated as an iron replacement therapy used to treat iron deficiency anemia in children and adults with intolerance or inadequate clinical response to oral iron, and in adult patients who have non-dialysis & dialysis dependent chronic kidney disease.

COMPOSITION:

Ferric Carboxymaltose Injection 50 mg/ml

MODE OF ACTION:

Ferric carboxymaltose is a macromolecular ferric hydroxide carbohydrate complex, which allows for controlled delivery of iron within the cells of the reticuloendothelial system and subsequent delivery to the iron-binding proteins ferritin and transferrin, with minimal risk of release of large amounts of ionic iron in the serum. Intravenous administration of ferric carboxymaltose results in transient elevations in serum iron, serum ferritin and transferrin saturation, and, ultimately, in the correction of hemoglobin levels and replenishment of depleted iron stores.

INDICATIONS

CARBINJECT is indicated for the treatment of iron deficiency when oral iron preparations are ineffective or cannot be used and where there is a clinical need to deliver iron rapidly.
