ISOPOINT-IV

ISOPOINT-IV contains Iron (III) Isomaltoside 1000 solution for injection/infusion. ISOPOINT-IV is a complex of iron and carbohydrate moiety where the iron is tightly bound in a matrix of Fe (III) atoms and isomaltoside pentamers closely resembling the structure of ferritin which enables a controlled, slow release of bioavailable iron to the iron-binding proteins, with potentially a reduced risk of free iron toxicity. ISOPOINT IV injection is used to treat iron deficiency anemia in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) including those who are undergoing dialysis (hemodialysis or peritoneal) and those who do not require dialysis.

MODE OF ACTION:

Following IV administration, iron isomaltoside is rapidly taken up by the cells in the reticuloendothelial system (RES), particularly in the liver and spleen, from where iron is slowly released for use.

INDICATIONS

Iron Isomaltoside 1000 solution for injection/infusion is indicated for the treatment of iron deficiency when oral iron preparations are ineffective or cannot be used and where there is a clinical need to deliver iron rapidly.
